Gainesville Police Dept Headquarters
and Physical Training Facility
Gainesville, Florida

This was an $8.75M project for the design and construction of the Gainesville Police Department’s (GPD) Headquarters, Physical Training Facility, auxiliary parking, landscape, and associated stormwater retention.

The Project was a major initiative to revitalize the NW 6th St and NW 8th Ave corridors. The design needed to be functional and cost-effective while utilizing environmentally sustainable concepts to reduce and control operational costs. The facilities and associated work were to blend into the surrounding architectural environment, within the budgetary constraints of GPD and the City of Gainesville. The Project achieved a LEED Certification level of Silver.

JOLA scope of work included landscape design, irrigation design and hardscape elements.  All design elements had to accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles - as the Rail/Trail bike path passes through the center of the site to connect to the 6th Street trail.  Accommodations were also made for the Police Memorial installed on 8th Avenue in front of the Administration building.
